Avulsed (knocked out) permanent incisors
TIME
IS OF THE ESSENCE!
FIRST gently rinse tooth in water or milk
THEN
carefully place tooth back in tooth socket if at all
possible and push tooth up until even with adjacent
teeth.
NOW
stabilize teeth with gum, wax, or anything “moldable”.
FINALLY call the office ASAP!
It's
best to store your, toothbrush in a clean, covered
holder. (FALSE)
Like a Petri dish, a humid
and enclosed toothbrush holder is ideal for growing
germs. "When we brush our teeth, we remove plaque,
debris, and bacteria from our mouth, and those things
end up on our toothbrush," says Yvette S. McCarter,
Ph.D., clinical microbiology director at the University
of Florida at Shands Jacksonville. "Toothbrushes should
be rinsed thoroughly with tap water, then allowed to
air-dry in an upright position." But don't go
overboard: Sterilizing only damages bristles.
And soaking a toothbrush in mouthwash may actually
spread bacteria. Instead, replace your toothbrush every
three months, or sooner if it's worn.
